This Privacy Policy explains how Whistleblower.Live ("Whistleblower", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile app and website (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

  • Account & contact: email (required), phone if provided, hashed password, username.
  • Profile (optional): avatar, bio, occupation, expertise, tagline, interests, languages.
  • Content you submit: headlines, details, comments, categories, and media (images/videos).
  • Location input (optional): when you search/choose an address. We do not collect background GPS.
  • App interactions: likes, follows, republish, shares, notifications.
  • Device/diagnostics: device type, OS, version, crash/diagnostic data.

2. How We Use Information

• Provide and operate the Service (accounts, posting, feeds, search, interactions).

Moderation & review: we may manually verify reports/media.

• Safety, security, fraud/abuse prevention, and legal compliance.

• Service communications (security, policy updates). No marketing unless you opt in.

3. Legal Bases

Contract (to provide Service); legitimate interests (safety, moderation); consent (optional profile/location); legal obligations.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

Service providers: hosting, storage, analytics.

Other users & public: content you post (incl. username) is visible and may be republished.

Legal/safety: disclose if required by law.

We do not sell personal information.

5. Anonymity & Identification

You may use a pseudonym, but a valid email is required for account creation.

6. Edits, Deletion & Retention

Drafts are editable until posted.

Posted reports cannot be edited, but can be deleted. Cached copies may persist briefly.

7. Security

Encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, abuse monitoring. Keep your credentials safe.

8. Children

Not for users under 16.

9. International Transfers

Data may be stored outside your country with safeguards.

10. Changes

We will update this Policy and show the Effective date. Material changes will be notified in-app or by reasonable means.

Mobile Use Policies

We collect account info (email, username), optional profile details, content you submit (text/media), app interactions, and diagnostics. Data is used to provide the service, moderation/safety, security, and to comply with law. We do not sell personal data; we share with service providers (hosting, analytics) under agreements.

Permissions we request:

  • Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): used only when you choose to capture photos/videos in the app; not used in the background.
  • Photos/Media Library: lets you select existing media to attach.
  • Notifications (optional): updates about your reports/account; can be disabled in device settings.

You may use a pseudonym; a valid email is required for account creation. You can request deletion of your account/data by emailing support@whistleblower.live from your registered email. Data is transmitted over TLS and stored securely. Not for users under 16. We may update this policy and will post the new date here.
